AI Competence Framework for University Teachers
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is fundamentally changing higher education. Teachers are not only expected to use new tools but also to critically assess their potential, limitations, and implications. The AI Competence Framework for Teachers provides guidance; it is a practical tool designed to help university staff build and expand their AI-related competencies.
The framework is based on the theoretical AI-Pack model, which extends TPACK and DPACK by describing AI-specific teaching competencies. The framework translates this model into actionable areas and developmental stages tailored to higher education.
It is essential to view and integrate AI's impact and implications in the context of one's academic field. Only then can AI be used in a sound and practical way that meets both the specific needs of a subject area and the broader educational, ethical, and data protection standards.
