Communities
AI at UZH is not only driven by leading researchers and our AI Champions — it thrives through communities (of practice). These networks bring together people from all faculties who share interests, challenges, and ambitions around AI.
From education to research, communities are where exchange happens: colleagues inspire each other, ideas take shape, and collaborations begin. They are the thriving and driving force of AI at UZH, ensuring that innovation grows bottom-up as well as top-down.
Whether you’re a professor, PhD, student, or staff member — there’s a community for you to join, contribute to, and learn from.

AI, Culture & Society
The DSI Community AI (Artificial Intelligence), Culture & Society is a dynamic network of stakeholders committed to exploring the implications of living as a citizen in the 21st century – in a post-humanist world shaped by algorithmic governance, generative AI, the dominance of big tech companies, and the complex societal challenges these technologies introduce.
AI follows stereotypes related to scientific research, oftentimes expected to serve a useful purpose. Its paradigm-shifting potential is evident in direct applications such as automating processes, creating intelligent assistants, optimizing processes, and solving previously intractable tasks with the power of vast datasets and deeper networks. While these technical advancements are transforming various domains – from research methodologies to corporate endeavors – our emphasis is on understanding the profound effects AI has on society at large.
The community brings members together to explore the often-overlooked question of what insights the humanities provide about AI, rather than emphasizing AI's practical applications for the humanities or society.
You can contact the DSI Community AI, Culture & Society via mail.
